The glass furnace is an essential thermal equipment for glass production. Its main responsibility is to melt the batch material into liquid glass during the glass production process, and it is also responsible for clarifying, homogenizing, and cooling it to the required temperature. , so the quality of the glass kiln affects the entire production process, and the refractory bricks used in building the glass kiln are also the key to affecting the service life of the glass kiln. Today, the editor takes the production of float glass as an example to introduce to you the Refractory bricks required in the process of building a glass furnace.
The three major thermal equipment commonly used in the float glass production process are float glass furnaces, float glass tin baths, and glass annealing furnaces. These three kinds of kilns all need refractory bricks for the construction of the inner lining during the construction process, but because the temperature of each part of the kiln is inconsistent during operation, we must choose according to the temperature of the used part when selecting.
1. Silica bricks for glass kiln Silica bricks are often used in glass kiln arches, breast walls, and small kiln masonry. Its maximum use temperature is about 1600-1650 ° C, and its main component is silica. The silica bricks used in glass kilns are generally two The silicon oxide content should be more than 94%. Since silica bricks are prone to crystallization transformation and volume expansion at high temperatures, expansion joints should be reserved during the masonry process to deal with the crystallization transformation of silica bricks during baking and cold repair.
2. Clay bricks for glass kiln Clay bricks are often used in the masonry of glass kiln bottoms, working pool walls and passages, regenerator walls and arches, lower checker bricks, and flues. Its maximum service temperature is 1500-1650 °C. Al2O3 and SiO2, Al2O3 content is 30% to 45%, and SiO2 is 51% to 66%.
3. High alumina bricks for glass kiln High-alumina bricks are essential refractory bricks for glass furnace masonry. Generally, high-alumina bricks are used for masonry in the cooling section pool wall, regenerator vault, regenerator wall, and other parts. Its main components are SiO2 and Al2O3, but the alumina content should be greater than 46%, and the maximum operating temperature is 1500-1650°C. Usually, some key parts of the glass furnace will also be built with high-purity corundum bricks with an alumina content of more than 90%.
4. Mullite bricks for glass kiln Mullite bricks are often used in the masonry of regenerator walls, pool walls, observation holes, wall buttresses, etc. Its maximum service temperature is 1500-1700 ° C, and its main component is Al2O3, and its content is about 75%, mainly mullite crystals.
The above are several types of refractory bricks commonly used in the construction process of glass kilns. During the construction process, reasonable selection should be made according to the temperature and location used. Not only that, we must choose good quality refractory bricks when purchasing, so as to prolong the life of the glass furnace. The service life of the kiln ensures the quality of the glass produced.
