Aluminum Homogenizing Furnace

Aluminum homogenizing furnace is mainly used in the homogenization of aluminum rods to refine the crystalline particles. It is the specialized heat treatment equipment for homogenization of aluminum rods after casting. The homogenizing furnace is used to eliminate the remaining stress and microscopic inhomogeneity caused by casting, reduce segregation and extrusion resistance, increase plasticity, etc.

Introduction of Aluminum Homogenizing Furnace

The term “homogenization” refers to the process of making things more uniform or similar, and that is essentially what is done in the process of aluminum homogenizing. The aluminum part is heated to a temperature very near its melting point — between 900 and 1,000°F (480 and 540°C) — and then it is slowly cooled, causing the precipitating elements to become more evenly distributed throughout the material. This leads to a more workable part with a more uniform internal structure.

Homogenizing is a form of annealing known as diffusion, or uniform, annealing. Annealing can be defined as any process in which an alloy or metal is heated to a certain temperature for a specific length of time and then slowly cooled to produce the desired effect. Most often the purpose of annealing is to make it more suitable for the machining process, but it can also be used to reduce internal stresses so that cracking and deformation are less likely to occur.

Details of Aluminum Annealing Furnace

It’s important to note that pure aluminum does not respond to heat treatment, so the process of aluminum homogenizing can only be done with aluminum alloys that use zinc, copper, or a silicon and magnesium blend. Other alloys, such as manganese or magnesium alone cannot be effectively heat treated either.

A homogenizing furnace is mainly used in the homogenization of aluminum rods to refine the crystalline particles. It is the specialized heat treatment equipment for homogenization of aluminum rods after casting. The homogenizing furnace is used to eliminate the remaining stress and microscopic inhomogeneity caused by casting, reduce segregation and extrusion resistance, increase plasticity, etc. It is applicable in aluminum alloy plants to manufacture homogenizing aluminum rods and billets.

The hearth is lined with refractory bricks backed up by insulation bricks, specially designed to withstand load.

The furnace side and the furnace roof are filled with thick refractory fibers, and the bottom of the furnace is made of 290mm thick high alumina refractory bricks and insulation bricks (the bottom layer is 60mm fiber cotton, and the thickness of the diatom insulation brick in the middle is 115mm, the thickness of the upper clay brick is 115mm), the inner side of the steel plate is installed with refractory bricks & insulation bricks both, There are steel rails and a receiving platform in the furnace to ensure that the feeding cart can enter and exit freely and the material is stable.
